Kenyan fighter jets have bombed bases belonging to the armed group of Al Shabaab in south of Somalia’s Gedo region.
The strikes hit several militants’ targets in El-Adde town, causing undisclosed number of casualties, according to residents, who asked to be anonymous.
El-Adde is a town where Kenyan troops under the African Union mission in Somalia had a military base before being withdrawn when nearly 100 Kenyans were killed in deadly gun attack by Al Shabaab last year.
Kenyan warplanes often carry out such airstrikes on areas believed to be Al Shabaab hideouts. Neither Kenya nor Al Shabaab have commented on the bombing in the south of Somalia.
